In January of 1892 there were 744 students in Münchberg.  Due to this high number of students the town council decided in 1893 to build a new “School House II” in addition to the Luther School.  The construction began in spring of 1895. It was completed in November of that year and the school was inaugurated.  It was two stories and contained eight classrooms, of which two were converted into a spacious gymnastics hall.  Six classes from the 2nd through the 7th year were taught. The headmaster position was advertised for 250 marks, along with a free apartment, wood and light.  Even the building of a second detention room was approved.  “As a result of repeated instances with the placement of the secondary education classes the establishment of a detention center in Schoolhouse II proved to be an urgent necessity.”
For 42,000 marks the building received a third floor and steam heat in 1911.  Now the top floor contained three new classrooms and an art room.  In the following years new windows were installed, sinks installed in the classrooms, warm water heating built in and renovation work carried out.

Park SchoolIn 1933 Schoolhouse II was renamed “Hans Schemm School” according to the district leaders and Bavarian Ministry of Culture.  During World War II the building was used as an infirmary.  After 1945 the 26 classes of the elementary school shared the space with the students of the School of Professional Education.  The school system, which was difficult to maintain, came to a standstill when the occupying forces set up troops there.  After their departure all means of instruction and facilities were destroyed or disappeared.  Not until October, 1945 could instruction take place again.  The stream of refugees has brought several hundred children into the county area.  So few qualified teachers were faced with so many students. In 1946 the Hans Schemm School was renamed as the present day Park School.

The Münchberg city council responded to the steeply rising student numbers with approval of an additional building to the South.  In 1970 this was handed over to the Park School.  Subsequently in the same year the old building was fundamentally renovated and rebuilt. As a result a modern workshop and a natural science room were created.  In 2016 the school operation was again shut down due to lower student numbers.
